Video generation is not free — every clip costs credits: 2.4 credits per second at 480p and 4.5 at 720p, so a 5-second 480p clip is 12 credits. You do not need a subscription though: credits can be bought as a one-off pack and spent per clip, and the exact cost is shown on the Create button before you generate.

There is no daily cap and no hourly rate limit. The only constraint is your credit balance — as long as you have credits you can keep generating, without waiting for an allowance to reset. That differs from Grok's own plans, which hand out a quota per period.

All of them now generate native audio, so the difference is trade-offs. Veo 3.1 pushes higher resolution but caps clips at 8 seconds. Kling 3.0 goes up to 4K. Reach for Grok Imagine 1.5 when you want a full 15 seconds, sound included, at a lower cost per clip. That makes it well suited to testing ideas quickly.

A 480p second costs 2.4 credits, a 720p second costs 4.5 and a 1080p second costs 8, so a 5-second 480p clip is 12 credits. Cost scales with resolution and duration, and the exact price is always shown on the Create button before you generate.

Most clips finish in under a minute — a 6-second 720p video takes around 40 seconds. Longer clips and higher resolutions take a little more. You can refresh or step away while it renders; your video is saved to My Assets as soon as it is ready.

Clips run from 1 to 15 seconds, at 480p, 720p or 1080p. You can upload up to 7 images per clip (1080p takes a single image), and picking an aspect ratio needs at least 2 of them. The smallest one-time credit pack unlocks 720p, and every larger pack unlocks 1080p too. On subscriptions, 720p needs Starter and 1080p needs Pro or Ultimate.
